A flat tire:
how to change it safely

Changing a wheel isn't hard. What really matters is where and how you do it, especially on a road with traffic.

Stop in a safe spot

Never change a wheel on the traffic side or in a curve. Look for a flat, wide spot, pull as far right as you can and set out the triangle.

Lift the car correctly

Place the jack only at the reinforced points of the body, on firm ground. Loosen the bolts before you lift the car, not after.

If the spot isn't safe, don't change the wheel. Call. No wheel is worth a risk.

After you've changed it

Tighten the bolts crosswise and check the pressure as soon as you can. A thin spare wheel is only for limping along, not for long drives.
