How many guests really fit:
seated vs. standing
The same hall can hold 300 guests at a seated dinner or 400 at a standing cocktail. Here is how to count correctly.
Seated means fewer
At a seated dinner, each guest needs a chair, a plate and circulation space. That is why seated capacity is always lower than standing capacity.
Don't forget the floor and stage
The dance floor, head table, cake area and stage for musicians take up space. Subtract them from the usable area before you count the tables.
A hall that looks perfect empty can be cramped when full. Ask for a layout plan.
Ask for a layout plan
The safest method is a hall layout with the tables for your guest count. That way you see early whether there is comfortable room or whether you need another space.
