A divorce need not be a war. The law offers several paths, and choosing the right one can spare you a great deal of suffering.

Divorce by agreement

If both spouses agree, the divorce can be done at a notary or city hall, quickly and without a trial. It's the simplest option, possible even with children, if you agree on their arrangements.

Divorce through the court

When there is no agreement, or disputes arise over children, the home or assets, the divorce is tried. The court decides on custody, support and partition, based on the evidence.

The best divorce is the one in which the children suffer the least.

How to choose
