your braces

Looking after braces

With braces, hygiene becomes even more important. A few simple habits make all the difference.

Brush more often

Food debris gets caught easily around the brackets. Brush after every meal and use interdental brushes, which clean where the regular brush can't reach.

Which foods to avoid

Avoid very hard foods (nuts, hard pretzels) or sticky ones (caramels), which can knock off a bracket. Cut crunchy fruit and vegetables into smaller pieces.

A knocked-off bracket means an extra appointment and a longer treatment. A little care at meals spares you that.

Don't skip the adjustments

The adjustment check-ups keep the treatment on track. See details at fixed braces.
