Mandatory RCA insurance: what it covers
Auto third-party liability insurance (RCA) is mandatory for any registered car and covers the damage you cause to someone else in an accident, not to your own car. The framework is regulated by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
CASCO, on the other hand, is optional and also covers your own damage. Our practical advice: always keep the RCA valid and check its expiry date, because driving without RCA is penalized and the car can be impounded.
